United Nations Charter
The Charter of the UN was signed on 26 June 1945, in San Francisco and came into force on the 24 October 1945. The Preamble lists the pledges which have been made, amongst those 'to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained.
