The OFCOM website describes itself as 'the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services'. OFCOM came into full authoritative effect in 2003 following the Communications Act 2003; its duties being previously handled by five separate regulatory bodies. The website offers a comprehensive search facility to find OFCOM publications by type, sector and date, as well as a Google-powered keyword search. The site also includes in-depth advice for consumers, and a separate, step-by-step guide to making complaints about any area of service across the spectrum of broadcasting and communications.
