Law Commission 'Murder' Page

This offers links to all the documents the LC have produced to push forward reforming the law on murder, having described the current law as 'a mess'. You can access the 2004 Final Report (Partial Defences to Murder), the 2006 Consultation Paper (A New Homicide Act for England & Wales?) and a useful press release outlining the key points. The Consultation Paper looks at the law as it is now, and puts forward ideas on how it could be changed/improved. The paper takes a close look a new proposed structure, and is split into parts addressing the fault element, intention, complicity in first-degree murder, diminished responsibility and provocation, duress, killing with consent and diminished responsibility and infanticide.
