At this desk you can get help with your enquiries, and loan and renew books and papers.
Loan copies of books and films in the Library are marked by a coloured dot on the spine. Books without coloured dots may not be borrowed. The colour indicates the loan period:
| orange dot | One-Week Loan | Return by closing time on the due date. |
| blue dot | Overnight Loan | Return by closing time the next day. Used mainly for films. |
| yellow dot | Two-Hour Loan | Return within 2 hours. This can lapse overnight, but the book must be returned by 9.30am the following day. |
To ensure all students have fair access to the Library.s collection, fines are charged on overdue items. Fines on books and films are as follows:
You are responsible for the prompt return or renewal of all your loans and for keeping track of when items are due. Due dates appear on the card inserted in the book when you borrow it. You may also check your own library record using CitySpace to see when your books are due back.
You can renew the books you have on loan if no-one else has reserved them. You do not need to bring the items to the Library. You may renew material in the following ways:

Please quote your library user number (numeric barcode) and the title or barcodes of individual items.
Please bear in mind that if someone else has reserved a book you have on loan, you cannot renew it, and you must return it on or before the due date or fines will be incurred.
